Ever have one of those days when all you want to do is lie on the couch and eat french fries?
If you know me at all, you will know that I regularly long for those days!
Ah, the pure joy of warm french fries, lightly salted with that ever so fragrant oily taste. That beautiful crunch as you bite into one and the flavour explodes in your mouth! Nothing could be better, except for maybe washing them all down with an ice cold coke zero!
As romantic and lovely as that sounds, it’s not reality, well not my reality anyway! Most days are spent catching up on the washing I’ve gotten behind on, cleaning the toilet (again!) reorganizing my pantry and running the kids to all their various activities, which to be honest, I love doing, but it doesn’t leave much room for french fry eating on the couch now does it?
But just because I can’t do it every day, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t do it at all. I have decided that to deny myself any pleasure, is not doing anyone any favours, least of all me. The more my love tank is filled, the more I can give out to people around me. The happier I am, the happier the family seems to be! So I have decided that it’s ok to sit and eat french fries! Now, I‘m not talking about every day, that would be gluttonous and I would end up the size of a house, but hey, why not treat yourself every now and then?
French fries don’t do it for you?
Then find something that does! Maybe it’s reading a book in the sun, meeting a friend for a coffee, walking around the lake with some your favourite music on. Whatever it is that fills your love tank……. do it!
Do it for your family, do it for your friends, do it for you! Do it to be kind to yourself. Just do it!
