Fear Not!
Well at least that what the Bible says right?
There are 145 verses in the Bible which tell us not to be afraid….so why then, does fear creep in?
I am off to Indonesia in a couple of days on a Missions trip. I am heading away for 10 days with some amazing people and we’ll be speaking at Churches, speaking to youth, doing crusades and hanging out with 60 (rescued) kids at Hope Village. Exciting right? Well up until this week I would have said yes, but then fear started to rear its ugly head:
You know you won’t be safe right?
Don’t you know they have snakes and HUGE spiders over there!
You can’t talk to the youth, they can’t even understand you!
Why would you travel for 15 hours and leave life as you know it, to go to a foreign place thinking you can make a difference?
Yep, the enemy had a field day! Planting (ridiculous) ideas in my mind. Lies that he threw at me to try and shake my confidence and my assurance of why I was going.
Then on Facebook, a friend shared a video of people cutting open a huge snake in Indonesia and pulling out a woman……and she was still whole!
Really God? Are you sure this is a good idea?
Another friend shared how just yesterday a ferry sank in Lake Toba (where we are going) and 1 person is confirmed dead and 13 people are missing!
Seriously God, are you sure?
And then to add to all of that, I was having random dreams about all sorts of crazy things happening while we were over there!
Okay God, now I am seriously questioning my sanity!!
The enemy was doing his best to place doubt in my mind and make me question why I was even going….and you know what? It was working!
I started to question everything but most of all “What made me think I could do this?”
But I love that God is SO much bigger than anything the enemy will throw my way. His truth will override any and everything the enemy will try and take me out with! And so I soak myself in His word and His truth, and I remind myself why I am going and the promises God has made me.
At our team meeting today I was put in the “hot seat” and the whole team prayed and prophesied over me. WOW! God’s truth and His plan for me were overwhelming and I was again reminded of why I was going. To keep my eyes on Him and to look at the bigger picture. His truth was spoken over me and the lies of the enemy were laid to rest!
And so as I type this, I am getting ready to pack my bags and head off on another adventure with God! I am super excited at what lays ahead for us over the next two weeks. And I am super seriously excited to see how God uses my obedience in His incredible plan, not only in my life but in the lives of those that I come across on my adventure! And as I go I will fear not, as that’s what the Bible tells me to do!
Here we go friends…..
