I Dont Have Time…..

Really?
Is that the real reason?

I hear it so often. It’s the battle cry of women around the world…..

“I DONT HAVE TIME”

And so I find this season we are in an interesting one!
We now have time. So much time. All the time. Time to do all those things we claim not to have time for. Whether it’s cleaning out the linen cupboard, organizing the kid’s wardrobes, sorting through years of photographs or spending more time with God…..we now have the luxury of time.

But are we making the most of it?

Now I know we all still need to cook, clean and look after our families but our lives have slowed down an awful lot, so what are we doing with all of our newfound time? Are we doing those things we longed to do?

I have spoken to a few women who are still struggling to get in God’s word or spend time with Him. Even though their cry was they don’t have time, now they have it, they’re still not spending time with Him!

I am not here to condemn anyone, but friends let’s not use the excuse of time anymore. God has given it to us in abundance.

So let’s just call it out for what it is:

I am lazy.
I don’t want to.
I’m not motivated.
I choose to spend my time doing other things.

For me, this has been a season of digging into God’s word. I know I have had a bit of a head start compared to everyone else, but I am loving this gift of time to spend with Him and discover more about Him and more about myself.

Now before you all think I am sitting here polishing my halo, I am definitely not!
I have times where it is all about Netflix and eating chips. I have days where I don’t want to get showered and dressed just to sit in my bubble! I have moments, actually, quite a few moments of frustration. It’s the biggest emotion I am dealing with at the moment, so much frustration!

But what I am not doing is using “I don’t have time” as an excuse when it is not the reason! Let’s all own up to what is holding us back and allow God to work through it with us.

Let’s be real and honest, not necessarily with any and everyone, but at least with God. Own it friends! Let’s lose the excuses and make a choice. Because at the end of the day we all have a choice:

Pick up my Bible or pick up a trashy novel.
Watch a podcast or watch Netflix.
Listen to worship music or listen to secular music.
Get up early to pray or sleep in.

None of those options are necessarily bad, but just own it! Don’t make excuses and try to justify your behavior or lack of discipline, when time is actually not what is causing you to stumble.

So as I make the most of this precious time, can I encourage you to do the same? Draw close to God, allow Him to be what you need in this season. Still yourself and listen as He whispers into your heart. Pour out your soul to Him. Give Him your time. Praise Him. Because He is good. Always.
