When Your Armor Doesn’t Fit!

We all know Ephesians 6 right?
Putting on the armor of God, being ready for battle at any time.

For the longest time, I have felt the armor just didn’t fit me! I felt like I was the shepherd boy David, trying to wear King Saul’s armor when he faced Goliath. He knew it didn’t fit and he couldn’t do what he was called to do while wearing it, and so he took it off!
He went into battle without any protection. Now I am not silly enough to walk into battle without God’s armor, but I always felt so clunky and awkward, and that I was fighting in something that wasn’t for me.

After continuing to struggle with the armor, feeling like I had to continually put it on because I was continually taking it off, I sat before God and cried! 

“God, this is all too hard. The armor is clunky, it’s heavy, and it doesn’t fit me. I feel like a little girl, ill-equipped to fight the battles before me. God, why am I so little and the armor is so big?”

And God’s response was beautiful:
“Honey, why would you think I would give you armor that doesn’t fit. I know you can’t fight in 20th-century armor like you see in the movies, that’s why I have given you armor that fits you perfectly!”

And straight away I had a picture of Captain Marvel! 
Now that is someone I can relate to! I am a bit of a marvel geek and have seen all the movies numerous times! When God gave me that picture, I knew without a doubt He has called me to fight in armor that is the perfect fit!

It’s not clunky, it’s not heavy, and it won’t weigh me down. In fact, it is the exact opposite. It fits me like a glove and was designed just for me. When I take it off, I am a normal civilian, but when I put it on (and keep it on) I have all the power I need! I have His power.

What a relief and a revelation that God is not asking me to fight in something that isn’t me!
The battle is no less than it was, but being well equipped makes all the difference!

And so now when I read Ephesians 6, I get excited at the thought of looking like Captain Marvel! I get excited because God knows my every need, and if I need my armor to look like a Marvel Hero, then God is good with that. He has made it fit me perfectly and I feel ready to face all that comes at me!
