26 Hours in a Day!

Ahhh, wouldn’t it be nice?
Another 2 hours a day! Because we all know that 24 hours just aren’t enough, right?

Well, I use to think that! I use to complain and wish I had an extra couple of hours a day to get everything done. Surely just two more hours in a day would be enough for me to achieve everything on my to-do list….surely?

But you know what? I think even if I had another 6 hours a day, I still wouldn’t get everything done! I think all that would happen is I would procrastinate for an extra 6 hours a day! How is it that other people have the same amount of hours as I do, yet they seem to get so much more done! How is it they can achieve so much more than I can? Am I really that lazy?

The answer to that question is actually quite simple….no! No, I am not lazy. But some days I do have trouble getting motivated! And I don’t know about you, but I feel so much better when I have ticks on my to-do list and I have had a productive day! Oh, if only every day could be like that! But what if it could? What if every day could be a productive one? What if every day was one where you achieved greatness?

So I thought I would share with you, my top 5 tips to get the most out of your 24 hours because at the end of the day, that’s all we have (please tell me you caught my joke there?) Anyway, here they are:

1. Be kind to yourself.

Now I know this may seem like a strange thing to start with, but you have to remember you are not Wonder Woman! If you are anything like me, your expectations of yourself are way higher than what they should be! So give yourself a break and be kind to yourself. Set realistic expectations, and know your limits!

2.   Prioritize.

This is key for me. There are a thousand things I could do and I am sure, half of those would go under the heading of “urgent”. But are they? Really? Will the world end if the washing gets done tomorrow instead of today? Would the earth crumble if you sat and ate lunch instead of eating it on the go? Make your list (if you are a list kind of girl) and put a little * next to those things which are a high priority to you. If some of your list falls to the next day…..that’s okay! (no really, it is)

3. Stop wasting time.

Oh my! How much time do we waste in a day on the world wide web?
Everything in moderation is healthy for us, but it’s when these things take over our time that it kills us. How much of your day do you spend on social media, seeing how everyone else is making the most out of their time? How much time do you waste watching (or binging) Netflix? How many hours do you waste looking for time-saving tips on Pinterest?
It’s okay to do all of those things, but moderation friends, everything in moderation!

4. Do one thing that you love.

You know so often we can live our lives as martyrs. There is always something to be done and someone who needs us, and if we are not careful we can lose ourselves and resentment can creep in and steal our joy!
I know that when I am happy, my whole house is happier! And if I am a happier person, I achieve so much more than if I am feeling resentful of my life! So do something you love. Read a book, take a walk, have a bath, eat a big mac! Whatever it is that brings you joy….do it! I promise you, if you allow time for the things you love, you will be a way more productive person!

5. Start your day off right.

There is nothing worse than starting the day on the back foot. Some days can feel overwhelming even before my feet hit the floor. But on the days when I start with my quiet time, when I center myself around God and His plan for my life, and when I commit my day to Him, well those are the days where I achieve so much more than I ever could on my own! For me, sitting on the couch with a cup of tea, my puppy and my bible, is the best way I can start my day. And honestly, it is on those days where I feel I could conquer the world!

So there you have it! My top 5 tips to get the most out of each 24 hours that you are given!

I never want to look back on my life, and say “I wish I could of, or I wish I did, or I wish I had more time” God has given me all the time I need, and it is up to me to use it wisely!

How about you?
