Counting Down to a Christmas Like No Other!
I feel like my blogs have been a little “heavy” lately!
But when you’re true to yourself and the season you are walking in, you just need to write what’s on your heart. And that is what has been pouring out!
But the tides are turning, and we are fast approaching my most favourite time of the year. There is def a festive hum in the air at my house.
I know, I know, the calendar says we still have a bit of time before the official countdown begins. But if I am being completely honest, my heart is already wearing an ugly Christmas sweater. And truth be known, I have pulled out all my Christmas t-shirts, and the Christmas music is being played in my AirPods! I am absolutely, unapologetically counting down the days to December, and this year, the anticipation feels more profound than ever before.
We’ve all had seasons that felt a bit like a long, grueling winter, chapters marked by the whiplash of transition, the ache of leaving familiar spaces, and the quiet grief of losing those we love. But there is something about the approach of Christmas that acts like a gentle, healing reset button for the soul.
This year, my excitement for the holidays isn’t just about the familiar traditions; it’s about the beautiful new life God is breathing into our family tapestry. I look around our living room and my heart skips a beat imagining what it’s going to look like in just a few short weeks.
We are going to have the warm, comforting glow of the tree, the smell of my favourite Christmas candles, and the sound of family laughing together. But the absolute best part? Our family gatherings are about to get a whole lot louder and sweeter. Not only will we be celebrating with our Grandbaby Theo, but Jackson and Ash are welcoming their new little miracle this December!
The thought of navigating the holidays with two precious grandbabies under one roof fills me with a joy that nearly brings me to my knees. It is the ultimate reminder that God doesn’t leave us in the empty spaces. He closes old chapters to make room for abundance, new traditions, and a harvest of family blessings we never saw coming.
But beneath the excitement of the tiny baby outfits, the wrapping paper, and the family chaos, my soul is anchoring into the truest meaning of the season. My excitement for Christmas always circles back to one magnificent, life-altering truth: the birth of Jesus Christ.
When we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we are celebrating the reality that Light has stepped into our darkness, and the darkness can never overcome it. He is our Counselor in the middle of limbo land, our Comforter in the thick of heartache, and the Prince of Peace when our minds are anxious.
So, yes, I am checking the calendar. I am secretly planning 2 new stockings to be hung, and getting ready for a December to remember. If you’re sitting in a heavy or quiet season today, I pray you can look ahead with me and catch a glimpse of the light. The story doesn’t end in the valley. A season of pure, redemptive joy is right around the corner, and the Prince of Peace is already here.
