Finding Blessings Around Every Corner
Sometimes I catch myself waiting for the “lightning bolt” prayers to be answered. The ones that change the course of your life in a single day. We pray for the big health breakthroughs, the major job shifts, or the mountain-moving miracles. And don’t get me wrong, those are absolutely amazing when they happen!
But lately, I’ve realised that if I only look for the giants, I miss the hundreds of tiny miracles God is scattering along my path every single day.
When we slow down enough to notice, we find that God’s hand of blessing is bringing us to new levels in every area of our life, often in ways we have no power to do ourselves. It’s about a perspective shift, seeing life from the right angle and recognising that our God is a God of surprises who delights in the small details as much as the big ones.
Your blessings won’t always come in a nice-looking box with a pretty red bow on top. In fact, they are often tucked into the very mundane moments we tend to overlook. Sometimes the blessing is simply an unexpected message from a friend that arrives exactly when you need it, or a memory that just makes you smile. Sometimes (but only sometimes!) it is even the blessing of dishes, because it means our bellies are full!
These aren’t just “coincidences.” When you truly know God, you start to recognise these unseen gifts that make all the visible ones possible.
Speaking of blessings, our family (and especially me!) is absolutely buzzing with excitement for December. Not only are we prepping for Christmas, which as the song says, is the most wonderful time of the year, but Jackson and Ash are expecting their baby! It is such a beautiful reminder that even in seasons where things feel quiet or “in limbo,” God is busy weaving together new life and new joy behind the scenes.
So how do we actually start seeing these blessings around every corner? It starts with intentionality. Being aware of what’s around us and the good things that are happening despite the hardships we may be walking through. There is always, and I mean always, something to be thankful for!
God is laying things upon our hearts and nudging us in small ways every day. Don’t wait for the mountaintop to start celebrating. The blessings are already here, right in the corners of your living room and the quiet spaces of your heart.
Stop. Breathe. And take notice.
